    I did the instructions in this file.

    But I still have them stupid ?= inside my URL’s. What is causing it.

    And does this mean every time you update the theme we need to go back and change all these settings back again.

    Nevermind. I think I found the problem. The FTP software threw up a warning I didn’t notice and didn’t successfully save the changes to the file.

    Hi,
    Please try to use this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-permalinks/ to change the permalink style of portfolio.

    Well actually all these solutions aren’t working. When I use the method at the URL below I successfully get the permalink structure I want but then when you click on any of the portfolio items Chrome will say ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

    Then if I add in the custom post type permalinks then I just get a 404 page. When I remove the URL rewrite method at the URL above and just keep the custom post type permalinks then I get 404’s. So neither of these solutions work.

    This is the response with just the custom post type permalinks installed.

    you notice how the URL changes and it removes the portfolio from the URL and says ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

    if I change the setting inside permalinks for portfolio from /portfolio/%postname%/ to just /%postname%/ I get a 404.
